FAQ

About our CD Store

Q. What restrictions / copyright are placed on the CDs?

A. Please check the information on individual CDs. Usually the restrictions are along the lines of 'you can't resell, repackage or redistribute the contents, but everything else goes'. PLEASE CHECK, because there are exceptions. Useage of the music in all of the libraries, except the Evolution library must be reported to the agency in your country that controls syncronization rights. You do not have to pay any royalty fees, but the useage must be reported.
However, NO reporting is required for the Evolution Library. It is completely royalty free, and paperwork free!!!

Q. Can I download individual tracks from the CDs?

A. You can download MP3s from the Evolution Library in our soon to be launched MP3 store.

Q. How long will it take for my CDs to arrive? What's with postage?

A. Evolution Studios sends out CDs every second business day (and if there're going to be delays not mentioned on site you will be notified immediately and given the opportunity to change / cancel your order.) CDs posted in Australia are sent via Express Post. CDs posted overseas are sent as Economy Parcel.

We're currently offering free postage on all CDs - if you need your CDs insured or Express Shipped please email us and we'll supply a quote for extra postage costs.

Q. What format do the CDs come in?

A. They're audio CDs you can rip as .wav files. Quality is broadcast quality (much better than the samples we place on the website for previewing). CDs are burnt -R discs unless stated otherwise (SOUND QUALITY IS NO POORER, REALLY, WE PROMISE).

Q. What if I don't want to pay using paypal?

A. You don't have to if you are in Australia. You can ring or phone through your order. (Fax number 07 4638 5333, phone is 07 4638 5166).

Q. Why should I use your CDs? This Shania Twain CD I'm listening to sounds heaps cooler, why can't I use a track of that?

A. Because Shania Twain will get cranky unless you give her money. Most visitors to our site will already know about copyright, that's what brought them here, but, for the newbies, in most cases you can't use a recording of music unless you have a licence, or the artist / copywriter owner gives you permission. (See the http://www.apra.com.au).

Our tracks come with permission already granted.

Q. What if I want to use a Mozart composition? Doesn't copyright expire?

A. Copyright does expire and works enter public domain, but a CD of Mozart recorded by a concert pianist last year has it own copyright, the 'Published Rights' do not expire for 25 years and there may be other restrictions. For original works you have to wait for the creator to die plus 50/70/80 years, depending on the laws in your country, before the work enters public domain.
